Upon arrival at Fukuoka Airport, coach transfer to a local restaurant for lunch [Chanpon and Saraudon set]. After lunch, head to Nagasaki city and visit Oura Tenshudo Church（大浦天主堂）. The Oura Church was completed in 1864 and is the oldest wooden church of Gothic architecture existing in Japan. After that, we will visit Glover Garden（グラバー園）, an open-air museum in Nagasaki that consists of nine western style homes built between 1868 and 1912. It exhibits mansion of several of the city’s former foreign residents and related building. Continue your journey to Nagasaki’s Chinatown, the oldest Chinatown in Japan. Today this area is a shopping strip covering many blocks. Finally, transfer to Unzen town for hotel check-in. Tonight, enjoy your dinner [Japanese Kaiseki] and natural hot spring at the hotel.
This morning, visit Unzen Hell (雲仙地獄). High-temperature hot springs and gases erupt violently from the ground, together with the strong smell of sulfur, the steamy scenery evokes a vision of hell. Next, head to Samurai Residence (武家屋敷). On the west side of Shimabara Castle, the samurai residences have been carefully preserved, complete with clear spring water flowing in canals down the center of the streets. After lunch [Japanese Hot Pot with Rice Cake] at a local restaurant, move on to Shimabara Port (島原港) to take the Ferry to Kumamoto (熊本) (around 30min). Upon arrival, proceed to the Kumamoto Castle (Outside), which is considered to be one of the three most famous castles in Japan and bustling with numerous tourists throughout the year. Continue your journey to visit Josaien (城彩苑). Located at the foot of Kumamoto Castle, it brings together 23 shops selling specialty items unique to Kumamoto Prefecture. After this, shopping at Kamitori and Shimotori. Tonight, enjoy your dinner [Seiro Steamed] at a local restaurant.
After breakfast, let’s head to Takachiho Gorge（高千穂峡）. It is a V-shaped gorge created by the Gokase River. Red-tinted precipitous cliffs rising up on both sides of the gorge extend for a long distance. This afternoon, lunch [Takachiho Irodori set] will be served at a local restaurant. After lunch, move on to Amano Iwato Shrine (天岩戸神社) – dedicated to the sun goddess Amaterasu, and primarily known for the thousands of small stone pillars or stupas on the path from the shrine to the river. Next, visit Tonnel no Eki (トンネルの駅). Here, you can find a wide variety of special products and traditional crafts have grown on Takachiho. At the on-site tunnel storage room, you can make a free tour of the cask’s storage of the shochu spirits. Finally, transfer to Mt. Aso for the hotel check-in. Tonight, enjoy your dinner [Japanese Kaiseki] at the hotel.
After breakfast, visit Daikanbo – one of the peaks of Aso northern somma, which is located north east of Ochimaki Onsen. This afternoon, you will get to experience Original Soba Making. Lunch will be the Original Soba that you make! After lunch, move on to Kokonoe Yume Suspension Bridge. The longest suspension bridge in Japan, from the suspension bridge; you can view of Shindo-no-Taki, one of 100 top waterfalls in Japan. After that, continue your journey to Beppu. Beppu is famous for its unique and numerous hot springs. There are several thermal vents that produced water too hot for hot springs, make up a unique part of Japan – its 8 “Hells”. Among these, you will visit two hells, which is Sea Hell（海地獄）and Oniishi Bozu Hell（鬼石坊主地獄）. Finally, transfer to Yufuin for hotel check-in. Tonight, enjoy your dinner [Japanese Kaiseki] at the hotel.
After breakfast, take a stroll at Yufuin Yunotsubo Street（湯の坪街道）and explore more about this rural little onsen town by yourself. Move on to Lake Kinrin (金鱗湖). This lake, along with the scenery reflected upon its waters, is a symbolic presence in Yufuin. Thereafter, transfer to Yufuin Station. Let’s experience the “Yufuin no Mori” Train from Yufuin to Hakata. The JR train “Yufuin no Mori” reflects the many charms of Yufuin. Once you step in the train, the warm yet modern wooden interior will make you feel like you are in the resort. Enjoy your lunch [Bento Box] in the train. Upon arrival at Hakata station, free at your own leisure at AMU Plaza Hakata & Hakata Hankyu for shopping. Tonight, your dinner [Kinka Course] will be served at a local restaurant.
After breakfast, head to Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine (太宰府天滿宮). It enshrines Sugawara Michizane (845-903) as the god of academic achievement. During the entrance examination season each year, students from all over Japan will head to the shrine to pray for success in academic achievement. After that, proceed to a local restaurant for lunch [Japanese Kaiseki]. After lunch, the Japanese orchard awaits you. Enjoy the Fruit Picking (Strawberry) which is just in season! Thereafter, transfer back to Tenjin area in Fukuoka. Tonight, enjoy your dinner during your free and easy time in Fukuoka city.
