ALSAGOFF ARAB SCHOOL
Built since 1912, this is one of the oldest madrasahs (religious schools) offering Islamic education. With wide verandahs and double storey arches, there is a greater emphasis on architecture design than regular schools. While the schoolgirls here cover their heads with Tudungs (head scarves), such practice is actually disallowed for all local mainstream schools in Singapore. Learn the story behind this ban. |

BUSSORAH STREET
Walking down the pathway and you will find a plethora of interesting sights around. While the well preserved shop houses here look similar, they are in fact architectures from different generations. The First Generation houses have simple designs, while the Late Generation houses are clearly more elaborately ornamented, with a mixture of Malayan and European architecture styles.
Before you proceed further, learn more about the next landmark that you are about to visit. Let the guide interest you with the details, so that you can better appreciate its very existence.

SULTAN MOSQUE
No it’s not a palace you’re visiting; it’s a mosque for Islam believers. But indeed, the royal aura that exudes from this place makes you think otherwise. Initially built for a Sultan (ruler) many years ago, this mosque has been rebuilt 3 times and is now a national monument. One of its main features, the gold dome, is actually sitting on a ringed structure made up entirely of glass bottles! Go find out why!

JAMAL KAZURA AROMATICS
Ever wanted to have a unique smell of your own? Now you can, if you head on down to Jamal Kazura Aromatics! Customize your own perfume by choosing your favorite scents from their huge collection of fragrances – originating from Middle East, France, India and other countries.
A perfect gift for yourself (or your loved ones); recall sweet memories of Singapore whenever you catch a whiff of your special fragrance. Besides selling perfume that is 100% oil (scent stays longer), they offer other related products like massage pills, scented body soaps and shower creams too.

ARAB STREET
Once a residential area for immigrant Arabians, it has now converted into retail shop houses selling silk, carpets, crafting materials, spices and other products.
The architecture here has not undergone restoration and reflects the real, unmaintained form of shop houses existent today. Get a taste of local life unembellished, as you take a walk down the rustic neighborhood.
|
PARKVIEW SQUARE
Just one look and you can probably guess that this is one of the most expensive office architecture in Singapore. Designed by US and local architects, this was the last project headed by a Taiwanese tycoon, who aspired to create an “imposing and monumental, yet stylish and elegant” masterpiece. The open plaza within will be a sight to behold. Find sculptures including those of famous history figures and an enormous crane, various ornaments and motifs – all of elaborate designs and skillful craft. |

BUGIS MRT STATION
The tour will come to an end at this convenient spot, which is central to an abundance of malls, streets and shops that provide great opportunities for shopping and food hunting!
