The Japan Railways Group (JR Group) offers a variety of Rail Passes which allow for convenient traveling in Japan. You will need to first purchase an Exchange Order, which you can obtain in your home country at an authorized agent. When you arrive in Japan, you can then turn it in to obtain your Rail Pass. As one of the authorized agents, JTB offers the following passes for sale at our branches.

Who is eligible?
- All passes available for foreign tourist visiting Japan from abroad for sightseeing under the entry status of "Temporary Visitor"*
- Japanese national living in a foreign country can buy Japan Rail Pass*

Pass coverage

Railways: All JR Group Railways-Shinkansen "bullet trains" (except any reserved or non-reserved seat on "NOZOMI" trains), limited express trains, express trains, and rapid or local trains. (With some exceptions)
* Japan Rail Pass can be used for Tokyo monorail connecting Haneda Airport and Hamamatsucho Station (beginning October 21, 2010)
Buses: Local lines of JR bus companies (JR Hokkaido Bus, JR Bus Tohoku, JR Bus Kanto, JR Tokai Bus, West Japan JR Bus, Chugoku JR Bus, JR Shikoku Bus, JR Kyushu Bus) and some of JR highway bus services**.
**Sapporo-Otaru; Morioka-Hirosaki; Tokyo-Nagoya, Kyoto, Osaka,Tsukuba Center; Nagoya-Kyoto, Osaka; Osaka-Tsuyama, Kasai Flower Center
Ferry: Only the JR Miyajima ferry is covered. The JR Hakata-Pusan (Korea) ferry is not covered.
Note: The JAPAN RAIL PASS is not valid for any seats, reserved or non-reserved, on "NOZOMI" trains on the Tokaido and Sanyo Shinkansen lines.(The pass holders must take “HIKARI” or “KODAMA” trains.) If you use a "NOZOMI", you must pay the basic fare and the limited express charge, and for a Green Car the Green Car surcharge

Unlimited travel on local, limited express and express trains including Shinkansens on the following rail company lines:

Note:
The JR East Pass is not valid for the Tokaido Shinkansen as that is operated by a different rail company.

A) Sanyo Area Pass
Pass coverage
Can be used for traveling to Osaka, Okayama, Hiroshima, Hakata and other sightseeing places in the Sanyo area via “NOZOMI” and other Sanyo Shinkansen super express trains.
Unrestricted boarding within the designated area, of the following trains operated by West Japan Railway Co. (JR West): "NOZOMI", "HIKARI", and "KODAMA" Sanyo Shinkansen super express trains, "HARUKA" limited express trains, ordinary cars of local trains (both reserved and free-seating), and JR West Miyajima Ferry in Hiroshima.

B) Kansai Area Pass
Pass coverage
Can be used for traveling to Kyoto, Osaka, Kobe, Nara, Himeji and other sightseeing places in the Kansai area via local trains
Valid for getting on and off a non-reserved seat of the Haruka Limited Express as well as local trains (including rapid-service and special rapid-service trains) in the designated area operated by West Japan Railway Co. (JR West)
Note: It cannot be used for boarding Shinkansen super express trains

Pass Coverage

Ride as many times as you like throughout the designated Kyushu area, on both local and limited express trains. The All Kyushu Area Rail Pass can also be used for Kyushu Shinkansen "bullet" trains.
*The JR Kyushu Rail Passes are valid only in the areas covered by each pass. The Northern Kyushu Rail Pass cannot be used for the Shinkansen Tsubame trains.

Pass Coverage
The Hokkaido Rail Pass is valid for all the train lines of Hokkaido Railway Co. and the bus lines of JR Hokkaido Bus (excluding Sapporo - Asahikawa / Sapporo - Mombetsu / Sapporo - Obihiro / Sapporo - Kiroro / Sapporo – Erimo & Hiroo lines and irregular lines).
Ordinary Car: Ordinary Car reserved seats on Express and Limited Express trains can be used.
*Surcharges are required to ride First-class Cars (Green Cars) or Sleeping Cars (Limited Express charge, berth charge, etc.).
First-class Car (Green Car): These cars of Limited Express trains can be used.
*Surcharges are required to ride Sleeping Cars (Limited Express charge and berth charge).
